Doreen Comrie-Bristol, D.V.M., C.C.R.P.
Dr. Comrie graduated in 1988 from the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Comrie worked for many years in private practice before opening Rogue Valley Veterinary Hospital in 1999. Her special interest in competing, training and hunting with Labrador retrievers lead her to gain more knowledge in the healthcare and special medical challenges of performance and sporting dogs. Dr. Comrie is certified by the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program to perform PENN Hip analysis, and in 2007 she completed certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner through the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Comrie’s primary focus now is in the sports medicine and canine physical rehabilitation unit, a subspecialty of RVVH, called K-9 Sports Med-Hab, which receives referrals for sports medicine and physical rehabilitation from all over the Midwestern United States.
Dr. Comrie and her husband, Steve, live with their 4 Labrador retrievers and one English pointer. Their shared interest in companion animals, hunting, and sporting dogs, lead them to build a new RVVH facility in 2008 to house the expanding medical practice and rehab unit.
Shannon R. Klein, D.V.M.
Dr. Klein graduated in 2002 with her DVM Degree. She also graduated Cum Laude with a BS Degree from the University of Findlay with majors in Pre-Veterinary Studies and Biology, and a Chemistry Minor. After graduation, Dr. Klein spent 9 years doing emergency and critical care medicine which fed her love of complex internal medicine cases and soft tissue surgery. She has a strong interest in continuing education and enjoys sharing that knowledge by mentoring new graduate doctors and making presentations to colleagues in the area. She is a member of the AVMA, MVMA, WMVMA, VECCS, and West Michigan Academy of Small Animal Practitioners. Dr. Klein lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, young son, three dogs, two cats, four birds, one snake, and a planted tropical fish aquarium that ranks as the newest hobby. Other hobbies include wine making and home repair. Dr. Klein hopes to continue to challenge herself by tackling tough medical cases and by expanding services at RVVH to include chemotherapy options for pets fighting cancer.
